Midnight Hawks

The Midnight Hawks is the official aerobatic team of the Finnish Air Force. The team was founded in 1997, flying four BAE Hawk Mk.51s. Their name is derived from the Midnight Sun Airshow, an annual air display in Finland which takes place up until midnight, thanks to the country’s high latitude. It is the team’s most important display each year. The aircraft are standard Finnish Air Force training jets, fitted with underwing smokewinders during performances to increase the show’s visual appeal. However, in 2017, the display jets were given a special scheme depicting the Finnish flag on their tails and engine intakes to mark the country’s centenary.

In 2024, the team began using Hawk Mk.66s, which are painted red and white. They have not been using smoke generators on this version of the Hawk.
