The Bulgarian Air Force is to host a rare airshow at their main fighter base, Graf Ignatievo, near Plovdiv.
The free-to-attend show will run on Saturday 14th September, with a four-hour flying display promised. The main themes will be the 20th anniversary of Bulgaria joining NATO and the 35th anniversary of MiG-29 operations. It will likely be one of the last chances to see Bulgarian MiG-29s perform, as the jets are soon due to be replaced with the F-16V Viper.
The exact flying line up and schedule are being kept as a surprise, but gates will open at 9:00 and the flying will begin at 10:30. No further details are available.
Airshows have traditionally been held at Graf Ignatievo once every few years, but they are not held on a regular schedule and are generally announced with just weeks to go. Foreign military participation and civilian displays are not typically expected. The most recent show was in 2022, after which the base was temporarily closed to allow for runway resurfacing before the first F-16s arrive.
