The Wings Over Illawarra Airshow at Shellharbour NSW, Australia, is to change names and halve in frequency as the organisers of the Australian International Airshow take charge of the event.
The ADMA Foundation – who run the Australian International Airshow at Avalon, has agreed a ten year deal with Shellharbour City Council to run the event, which will be renamed to Airshows Downunder Shellharbour. The show will run over three days, rather than the previous two-days, and will be held biannually, alternating with the Australian International Airshow. The first edition scheduled for the 1st-3rd of March 2024.
ADMA primarily specialise in running military trade events, including Land Forces, Indo-Pacific and Rotortech. Their re-imagining of Wings Over Illawarra will feature greater industry involvement, and will be used to promote Australian general aviation.
Currently, Wings Over Illawarra is mainly a warbird-focussed show, and has been run in recent years by Bright Events Pty Ltd. It is run with the support of the Australian Defence Forces.
