The Manifestazione Aerea del Centenario dell’Aeronautica Militare, held at Pratica di Mare air base, was truly an airshow for the ages. Aiming to tell the entire history of the Italian Air Force, the show exclusively featured current and former types operated by the air arm, with no foreign military contributions.
Historic highlights included a CA.3 and G.91 restored to flight especially for the occasion, and an F-104 Starfighter shipped over from the United States. Modern highlights included the Air Parade, featuring 87 aircraft of 24 distinct types, as well as solo displays by the Reparto Sperimentale Volo and the inimitable Frecce Tricolori.
