WESTON-SUPER-MARE | This year’s Weston Air Festival and Armed Forces Weekend has been cancelled, as it is due to take place before England’s coronavirus restrictions are ended.
Scheduled for the 19th-20th June, the airshow will end one day before the UK government hopes to abolish all legal limits on public gatherings in England. Until this point, non-seated outdoor gatherings will only be allowed to welcome up to 4,000 spectators or 50% of the venue’s capacity – which ever is lower. The Air Festival, meanwhile, is more used to attracting crowds of around 150,000.
North Somerset Council, who run the show, said they were “extremely disappointed” the show will not take place this year. Alternative dates were considered, but were considered unviable, according to the Chew Valley Gazette.
