MCAS Yuma Airshow 2021 cancelled “in the interest of public safety”

YUMA | The MCAS Yuma Airshow has become the first major 2021 airshow in the United States to be cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Scheduled for the 12th-13th of March, the airshow had been due to feature the F-22 Demo Team and various displays from the US Marine Corps. It is one of the first events of the North American airshow season.

Organisers said on Facebook that the cancellation was “in the interest of public safety … to help combat the spread of COVID-19.” It added that the health of service members, their family and the local community was their top priority.

Planning efforts will now be focussed on the next planned show, tentatively scheduled for the 12th March 2022.
